rei.com/gift-card/purchase

REI Co-op is the member-owned outdoor outfitter behind more than 185 stores across the United States, from the flagship in Seattle to the climbing wall in Denver. Founded in 1938 by Lloyd and Mary Anderson as a buying club for a single ice axe, REI now stocks technical apparel, camping and climbing gear, bikes, skis, and kayaks from brands like Patagonia, Arc'teryx, Osprey, Black Diamond, and its own REI Co-op line. A REI gift card covers any of it, plus membership and REI Adventures trips.

The co-op structure is the through-line: more than 25 million lifetime members split an annual dividend and help steer conservation grants, the Opt Outside Black Friday closure, and the trail-work days that fill REI stores every spring. In travel terms, the card outfits the whole expedition — a 65-liter Osprey pack for a Patagonia trek, a two-person MSR tent for a Utah road trip, broken-in Salomon boots for a rim-to-rim at Grand Canyon, or a guided REI Adventures departure to Patagonia or Kilimanjaro. Because this card is bought through Dyme, every dollar also earns 1 Dyme Mile. Redeemable on any airline, any hotel — no blackouts, no expiration.

A pack that earns its miles on the trail, and Dyme Miles that earn the flight to get there.
FAQ

Good questions, good answers.

How do I redeem my REI gift card?
Online at rei.com or rei-outlet.com, add items to your cart and enter the 19-digit gift card number and 4-digit PIN at checkout — save the card to your REI account to keep the balance on file. In any of the 185+ REI stores, hand the physical card or printed eGift to the cashier. By phone at 1-800-426-4840 for merchandise or 1-800-622-2236 for REI Adventures trips, read the card number and PIN to the agent.Full redemption details for REI
How do I check the balance of my REI gift card?
You can check your balance on REI's website using the gift card number and 4-digit PIN from the back of the card. An associate at any REI store can also look up the remaining balance at the register, and REI staffs a dedicated gift card line at 1-855-873-5456 for phone lookups.Check your REI gift card balance
Where can I use a REI gift card?
REI gift cards are accepted at every REI Co-op store, REI Outlet location, and online at rei.com and rei-outlet.com. They also apply to REI membership, bike and ski shop services, classes, and REI Adventures guided trips booked by phone at 1-800-622-2236. The card is not honored at third-party retailers that stock REI-branded product, and cannot be applied to prior purchases.
Do REI gift cards expire?
REI gift cards do not expire and carry no dormancy fees, so a card gifted this year still spends in full three seasons from now. REI cannot replace or refund cards reported lost or stolen, so treat the number and PIN like cash. Gift cards are not redeemable for cash except where state law requires, and gift card purchases themselves do not earn the REI member dividend.
Can I use a REI gift card for REI Adventures trips?
Yes. REI gift cards can be applied to REI Adventures guided trips — from national park weekend departures to multi-week backpacking expeditions in Patagonia or Nepal. Because Adventures is booked through REI's travel desk rather than the web checkout, call 1-800-622-2236 and provide the card number and PIN over the phone to apply the balance toward a deposit or final payment.
Can I buy a REI gift card at Walgreens, Costco, Target, or Amazon?
Availability varies. Walgreens, Target, and Meijer carry REI gift cards on some racks, and Amazon sells REI eGift cards in fixed denominations. Costco's rotation is inconsistent — sometimes discounted, often unavailable. CVS, Safeway, and Walmart generally do not stock them. The reliable options are buying direct at rei.com/gift-card/purchase or through an authorized digital reseller like Dyme — which is how you landed here.
What denominations are available?
Through Dyme, REI eGift cards are available in custom amounts from $25 up to $500, matching REI's own variable range. The minimum to fund a lifetime co-op membership is $30 — the $20 membership fee plus a $10 starter balance. A $100 card covers a mid-range shell or daypack, and a $500 card reaches into tents, sleeping bags, and fully outfitted REI Adventures deposits.
Can I use an REI gift card outside the United States?
US-issued REI gift cards are redeemable only at REI and REI Outlet stores in the United States, at rei.com, and by phone with REI's call centers. REI does not operate international retail, and the card is not valid at third-party outdoor retailers abroad. REI Adventures trips booked from the US with a gift card can, of course, travel anywhere the itinerary goes — from the Dolomites to the Galápagos.
How many Dyme Miles do I earn on a REI gift card?
You earn 1 Dyme Mile for every $1 spent on a REI gift card through Dyme — a $100 card earns 100 Miles, a $500 card earns 500. Miles post to your Dyme account within 3 business days of purchase and are redeemable on any airline, any hotel at travel.dyme.earth — no blackouts, no expiration.
What payment methods does Dyme accept for REI gift cards?
Dyme accepts all major credit and debit cards — Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover — along with Apple Pay and Google Pay at checkout. Dyme Miles themselves are not spent on gift card purchases; they accrue on top of each order, posting within 3 business days and staying in your account until you redeem them for flights or hotels.
