Gift Card Buying Guide

Where to Buy Amazon Gift Cards: Deals, Rewards & Miles

Amazon gift cards spend across the entire Amazon ecosystem — the marketplace, Prime, Kindle, Audible, AWS, and Whole Foods. They never expire, carry no fees, and come as e-gift, physical, or reload. The ways to buy them differ on denomination caps, delivery speed, and whether you earn anything back on the purchase. Here's how each one works.

What an Amazon gift card gets you

An Amazon gift card balance covers far more than the marketplace: it spends on Prime memberships, Kindle books and Kindle Unlimited, Amazon Music and Audible, AWS account credits, Whole Foods Market groceries, and Amazon Fresh orders. Balances stack in your account, never expire, and apply automatically at checkout before your card is charged. They can't buy other gift cards, and they don't cover purchases from most third-party sellers that bill outside Amazon Pay.

three formats:

  • E-gift card: Emailed within minutes, redeemable at amazon.com/redeem. $0.01 to $2,000 per card via amazon.com; preset amounts of $25, $50, $75, $100, $150, and $200 via Dyme.
  • Physical card: Mailed in a box, tin, or greeting card. $25 to $500 typical via amazon.com and retail racks.
  • Reload / print-at-home: Add any amount directly to your own Amazon balance, or print a gift card at home for instant handoff. Via amazon.com only.

You can apply unlimited gift card codes to one Amazon account; they pool into a single balance with no cap on how many you redeem.

Can I get a Amazon gift card at a discount?

Yes, but not through Dyme. Dyme sells Amazon e-gift cards at face value; the value-add is Dyme Miles, paperless delivery, and supporting renewable energy projects, not a face-value discount. The discount channels are:

  • Costco or Sam's Club, in store and online. Periodic multi-pack Amazon cards at a small discount, often as a $100-for-less bundle. Supply rotates and isn't always available. Club membership required.
  • Secondary marketplaces (Raise, CardCash). Resold Amazon codes from third parties, typically a few percent below face value. Verify the balance at amazon.com/gc/balance before redeeming, since secondary sellers occasionally list cards with partial balances.
  • Amazon's own promotions. Amazon periodically offers a small bonus credit when you reload your balance with a particular payment method, or for first-time gift-card buyers. These appear on the gift-card landing pages and rotate.

The bigger combined return comes from the rewards stack below: your credit card and Dyme Miles on the purchase. Most buyers leave that money on the table.

How to buy via Dyme

Amazon e-gift cards on Dyme arrive in the recipient's inbox in under a minute.

Note

Amazon gift cards bought through Dyme redeem in two steps. The recipient first gets an email from Runa, Dyme's gift-card fulfillment partner, and confirms the gift. They then receive the Amazon claim code, which they add to their Amazon account under Gift Cards by entering the code at amazon.com/redeem. Plan for the extra confirmation step when timing a gift.

  1. Open the Amazon brand page on Dyme.
  2. Enter the recipient's email, pick a preset amount, and add an optional personal message.
  3. Check out. The e-gift sends immediately; the recipient confirms through Runa and then redeems the Amazon code at amazon.com/redeem.

You earn 1 Mile for every dollar you spend, and 5 Miles per dollar during special offers. Miles post to your Dyme account within 3 business days. Dyme Miles never expire, have no blackouts, and are redeemable on any airline, any hotel — across over 2 million hotels and 600 airline partners.

Every Dyme purchase contributes to Dyme's renewable energy mission. Dyme uses part of its profits to support communities worldwide by investing in cheaper and cleaner electricity. Read more at dyme.earth/blog/impact.

How to buy on amazon.com

  1. Go to amazon.com/gift-cards.
  2. Choose e-gift, physical, print-at-home, or reload, then pick a design and the amount.
  3. Add to cart and check out. Amazon does not discount its own gift cards, though it occasionally adds a small reload bonus shown on the gift-card pages.

How to buy in store

Whole Foods Market and Amazon's physical locations sell Amazon gift cards at the register. Tell the cashier the amount, pay with cash or card, and walk out with a physical card you can redeem immediately at amazon.com/redeem.

How to buy at Costco, Sam's Club, or a supermarket

Costco and Sam's Club periodically run multi-pack Amazon gift cards at a discount. Stock and pricing rotate. Supermarket and drugstore gift-card racks at Kroger, Safeway, Walgreens, CVS, and Target carry fixed and variable-load Amazon cards at face value. You pay no discount but earn the retailer's loyalty points and any fuel rewards that apply to gift-card purchases.

Designs and personalization

Physical cards: a large catalog of designs including birthday, thank-you, holiday, and occasion-specific art, plus premium boxes, tins, and greeting-card formats at amazon.com.

E-gift cards: hundreds of designs and animated options, a customizable subject line, and a recipient message. Print-at-home is available for instant in-person handoff.

For bulk and branded orders, see Amazon Incentives corporate ordering below.

Delivery and timing

  • E-gift via amazon.com: 1 to 60 minutes by email, or scheduled for a future date.
  • Physical via amazon.com: 1 to 5 business days standard. Prime members often get faster options at checkout.
